Osprey is the first FORscene codec to support loss-free video compression. Broadcasters can use the output from FORscene for transmission without using any other editing software. Videos may also be edited at browse quality, with extra information transferred when the video is conformed to bring the source up to broadcast quality. This minimizes internet traffic and delay.
The Osprey upgrade is the latest in a range of video codecs specifically designed for editing on the web. It increases the range of video qualities available in FORscene.
Stephen Streater, CEO of Forbidden Technologies said: “The web has come of age. Native broadcast quality post-production over the web is a practical reality. It is becoming increasingly clear that, over time, web-based video tools will come to dominate the market for all forms of professional video production.”
Forbidden Technologies believes that this is the first practical implementation of a broadcast quality editing service over the web.
