» Q: Does the size of a video matter?
A: No. All the videos are compressed into our format which is time‐code accurate which is consistent with professional video editing. It is the length of time of the video that matters.
» Q: Does it matter if I am using an Intel‐based Mac?
A: A G5 Mac computer should run faster than an Intel‐based Mac laptop.
» Q: Does it matter if I’m editing in FORscene while I am uploading?
A: No. However, when using a PC it is preferable not to do both at the same time.
» Q: How do I upload video into FORscene?
A: There are four options for uploading.
1) Web upload button on the welcome page and in the edit suite which is recommended for clips up to 10 minutes in length.
2) FORscene Load software which can be downloaded from the website for free into your computer and lets you upload multiple video clips of any length.
3). FORscene Load PRO is the professional version. This is licensed software which can be downloaded to a Mac or PC. The Linux version is a small computer can be rented or purchased and is the best option for uploading large amounts of footage such as dailies.
4) FORscene Server is integrated into your company’s intranet service.

» Q: Is it possible to upload directly off of the camera into FORscene?
A: Yes. If you have FORscene Load Pro in your computer (Mac, PC, or Linux system) you can upload directly into your FORscene account. The video is captured, compressed and uploaded in automatically.
» Q: At what upload internet speed can I expect to have my video uploaded in real time into FORscene?
A: At an upload internet speed of 2 mbps. If your upload speed is faster than this the video will upload in faster than real time. If it slower it will upload in less than real time.
» Q. What is a “Linux Box”?
A. This is jargon for the Linux FORscene Load PRO computer and software.
» Q: How do I upload from a mobile phone?
A: Navigate on your phone browser to m.forscene.net, choose ‘upload’ and select the clip you wish to upload.
» Q: What would you suggest I do if I have configured the java already, but it doesn’t play smoothly in FORscene?
A: Set it to ‐Xmx150M. You need more than 120M but less than 256M. This problem has also been solved in the past by uninstalling the Google toolbar.
» Q: How many people can access an account?
A: Unlimited number. Each account has an account manager who may authorize and invite others into the account to collaborate. Extra charges apply if there is more than one ongoing user in an account.
» Q: After I add a dissolve to a video it sometimes shows a speckle instead of a fade.
A: Fades are at a high data‐rate and pixels are changing with every frame. You may need a faster internet connection to play clearly.
» Q: I've noticed that the system doesn’t always keep up with the splurge when zooming into individual frames. It sometimes has a speckle.
A: The splurge downloads files as fast as it can which is dependent on the bandwidth and processing power of your computer. If this happens, zoom out when you are playing back and zoom in when you need to edit individual frames.
» Q: How do I access the audio controls?
A: On the timeline right click on the audio icon and it will expand to show a separate track for audio levels. Begin adjusting by dragging up or down on the audio track.
» Q: How do I adjust the saturation?
A: Right click in the red edit window on the clip you want to adjust. Hold and drag the mouse to the left to decrease saturation and to the right to increase it.
» Q: How do I adjust the brightness?
A: Right click in the red edit window on the clip you want to adjust. Hold and drag the mouse up to increase brightness and to the bottom to decrease it.
» Q: How do I export my video?
A: Name the video you are editing and save it to your media folder. Click on the video that you’d like to export from the red edit window or from the media folder. Then drag and drop into the one or more of the export buttons. The video will be automatically be queued, compressed and exported in the format you have selected.
» Q: How should I start a video that I’m publishing to the web?
A: Edit out the black frames so that the video starts on a picture and the thumbnail is the first frame of your video.
